July 4 – Lowestoft – rest day
By Joe Barrett | July 4, 2012
No sailing today. A sunny rest day in Lowestoft was spent re-provisioning and exploring the town. Lowestoft is an old Herring fishing town as well as being the most easterly point on our journey.
After making our way up a typical dreary town centre street we found ourselves in an old Georgian part of the town. Lots of old shops and interesting architecture.
Tomorrow we are off to the explore the River Deben, a river 35 miles south of Lowestoft, which has a sand bar across the entrance plus great pub called the Ramsholt Arms. The plan is to pick up a morning outside the pub.
