June 21 – Amble – Stormbound – Day 1

By | June 21, 2012

We awoke this morning (Thursday) to the rain lashing on the topsides. Quite a contrast compared to the previous evening when we were sipping G+Ts in the warm evening sun. The first time in our cockpit on the whole trip.

The morning was spent doing mundane housekeeping jobs before we retired to the local internet cafe which was promoting boutique ice cream.

We can report progress has been made on our mainsail car problem. You will recall that the ball joint had broken on one of the Fredrikson sliders – too much detail I hear you say … Suffice to say the new ones are in the post to Amble marina and we are fitting them tomorrow.

Fredrikson CarThe broken slider car … note the rain!

The weather is due to break sometime Sunday or Monday. We are not sure which. Looks like we will get to know a bit more about the area surrounding Amble. There is a rough plan to visit Alnmouth tomorrow to explore the pub, the river and the castle.

More tomorrow …

Really enjoying reading your blog. We know the area you are in at the moment rather better as we have had quite a few holidays in Northumberland and visited the towns and castles you are seeing at present. You seem to be enjoying your trip and we look forward to seeing you and hearing more detail and seeing your photos. Pity the weather has not been kinder!
Best wishes from us all,
Peter, Tricia, Lee and Owen.
