May 26 – Oban: Day Off to Provision
By Joe Barrett | May 26, 2012
Took a short trip into Oban to re-supply the boat with essentials before the trip north. We were just about to leave for Oban when a huge catermarran came alongside cliaming their berth and we had to move to another pontoon.
Oban is a busy place being at the end of a railway line and the main link to the Islands. We had lunch overlooking the harbour and watched the ferries arrive and depart. The sweltering heat (26deg) was not what we were expecting but a cold beer saved the day.
Last light Dustaffnage
Provisioned and back at the marina we started planning tomorrows short passage to Loch A Choire on the west side of Loch Linnhe. David has relations who have recommended we stay there and try the restaurant.
Leaving tomorrow a 09:00 the tides have changed now and after weeks of mid morning leaving it’s early starts from now on. No more marinas for some time – its mooring buoys and anchoring in remote lochs for a good while now.

If you do make it to Tobermory, look out one of Persistence’s sister vessels ‘Silurian’. Thx
